Šibenik has recently been granted new fast catamaran routes that will connect the city with the islands and Split. The Croatian government has approved the introduction of two new state catamaran lines that will operate year-round. These lines aim to enhance transport connections between several Dalmatian islands and the mainland, significantly easing daily life for residents. One of the new routes will connect Postira, Pučišća, Omiš, and Split, providing a faster and more reliable maritime connection for the eastern part of Brač Island. This line is expected to operate daily throughout the year, improving mobility for residents, commuters, and students. The second approved route will connect Žirje, Kaprije, and Šibenik, with services operating in both directions. This line is intended to strengthen transport links between the islands and the city of Šibenik, providing better year-round access and supporting local economic activity. The Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure states that the goal of introducing these new lines is to enhance connectivity between the islands of Brač, Žirje, and Kaprije and their respective county centers, Split and Šibenik. This initiative is also expected to contribute to broader strategic, economic, and tourism development across the Split-Dalmatia and Šibenik-Knin counties. At this stage, further details regarding the designated operator, sailing schedules, journey durations, and ticket prices have not yet been announced, but additional information is expected to be published in the near future.
