Šibenik was in the spotlight during the 67th MedCruise General Assembly, where cruise line representatives explored the rich cultural offerings of this historic city. The event took place on October 2, 2025, and included a walking tour that highlighted Šibenik's unique cultural and operational capabilities for the cruise industry. The tour began with a visit to Zablaće, a tranquil fishing village located 8 km south of Šibenik, which offers a practical anchorage solution for ships visiting the region. Zablaće is known for its therapeutic mud, and regular bus connections link passengers to the city center. This year, Viking utilized the Zablaće anchorage, while MSC Cruises and Cunard have previously used this location during weather-related diversions. Šibenik stands out as Croatia's only city with two UNESCO World Heritage sites. During the walk through the historic center, participants observed the influence of Venetian architecture from the 400 years of Venetian rule. Šibenik's waterfront promenade and the Barone and St. John fortresses provided stunning views of the city, while participants learned more about traditional crafts, such as lace-making and unique coral jewelry. The tour concluded at Republic of Croatia Square, home to the UNESCO-listed Cathedral of St. James, where participants had the opportunity to explore the details of Renaissance artwork within this impressive structure. After the cultural exploration, attendees enjoyed shopping in the historic center before gathering for lunch at the City Hall restaurant. The evening concluded with a gala dinner at the Atrium Restaurant, featuring performances of traditional Croatian music that provided an authentic cultural backdrop to the event.
