Šibenik has signed a contract for the construction of a new 110-metre (361-foot), 4,000-tonne hybrid floating dock, which will be the yard's largest investment since the Croatian Government extended its maritime concession to 2054. The agreement was finalised in Varna, Bulgaria, between Roko Vuletić, CEO of Šibenik, and Danail Slavov, general director of TEREM - Shipyard Flotski Arsenal - Varna, which will build the dock. The project, designed by Norden Shipdesign House in Turkey, features a hybrid configuration combining a concrete pontoon formed from seven sections with double-hull steel side towers. According to Vuletić, the new dock will play a key role in expanding the yard's capacity and support work on vessels previously beyond its scope. Construction will begin in early 2026, with commissioning expected in spring 2027. The new dock will enable the yard to undertake overhauls of almost all Jadrolinija vessels, build yachts over 70m (230ft), and support the Croatian Navy's forthcoming corvette programme. Özer Kaymak, designer of Norden Shipdesign House, said that the Flexy Hybrid Dock represents the growing convergence of engineering innovation and sustainability in shipyard infrastructure. Slavov added that the contract reflects confidence in the Varna yard's capabilities and strengthens its position in the Black Sea maritime sector.
